Itinerary
On arrival in San José, Costa Rica, you will be welcomed at Juan Santamaría International Airport and transferred to Bajos del Toro.
You will discover one of Costa Rica's hidden gems, tucked in a valley between extinct volcanoes. There, you will experience the richness of life in the forests and trails of Bajos del Toro. The typically humid and rainy weather creates a relaxing atmosphere of soft fog and cloudy skies, providing a deep connection with nature.
Tonight, you will have a romantic dinner in the forest.

On this day, while walking through the forest, you will have some time to meditate and experience from a different and holistic perspective what the cloud forest has to offer. The Eco-Concierge will guide you during the visit to the hummingbird garden and along the path of the 4 elements, which invite you to embrace the elements of nature focused on consciousness, happiness, and your higher purpose.

In the morning, you will be transferred to the Arenal Volcano in the Northern Plains region. Majestic in its grand stature, the volcano is one of the country’s natural wonders and the most popular of Costa Rica’s volcanic giants. The Arenal Volcano (1,670 m) towers over the surrounding fertile landscape with plantations producing the best coffee in the world. While the volcano is quiet nowadays and there are no lava eruptions, you can still see clouds of smoke or ash emanating from the top of the cinder cone. The symmetrical cone-shaped Arenal Volcano erupted in the past an average of 41 times a day and while it currently slumbers, Arenal and the surrounding area are a great base for touring. You can also enjoy the plentiful hot springs in the area. Along your journey to the town of La Fortuna, at the base of the volcano, you will see agricultural plantations, large ornamental plant nurseries, and more cattle farms.

The day will begin with a hiking trail in Arenal Volcano National Park. There is a possibility to see diverse wildlife in the park including deer, tapir, howler monkeys, white-faced monkeys, and birds like parrots, orioles and brown magpies, along with a great variety of vegetation including various species of palms and bromeliads, guayabo de monte, ceiba, bait, cirri, laurel, fungi, higuerones, orchids, and ferns. You will notice how the forest vegetation and terrain have been affected by volcanic activity, including old lava flows.
In the afternoon, you will enjoy an incredibly relaxing experience in the natural hot springs at Tabacon Resort & Spa, surrounded by lush gardens and steaming waterfalls. During your stay at the resort as an overnight guest, you will receive unlimited access to the thermal water of the Tabacon River and its pools. The resort is flanked by the Arenal Volcano at one more end and the Arenal Volcano National Park on the other and there are five main springs source highly mineralized water that is heated underground by the Arenal Volcano’s magma. In Arenal, you will find Costa Rica´s largest network of naturally flowing thermal mineral springs where thousands of gallons emanate every minute. The thermal water flowing throughout the resort forms the Tabacon River. You can soak in the dozens of cascading waterfalls and warm pools along the riverbed, of varying temperatures, water flows and degree of privacy. All of the water at the resort has always been and will always be true, thermal water, naturally heated by the volcano and slowly mineralized, underground.

This morning your trip will continue to the Guanacaste Volcanic Mountain Range, and specifically to Tenorio Volcano National Park. The rainforest in the park protects numerous species of flora and fauna of regional importance. The Tenorio Volcano, with its four volcanic cones and two twin craters, offers natural panoramic views that let you appreciate the plains of both the Pacific and the Caribbean Coasts. The Celeste River is a unique and extraordinary feature in the Tenorio Volcano National Park. Its vivid sky-blue colour makes it a popular attraction in the park.
You will explore the park on a 7 km hike through the rainforest to the waterfall and “Los Teñideros”, which means “the dyeing pools” and is the point where the river begins its unique colour. You will also visit the famous “Borbollones” or bubbling pools to find out more about the volcanic activity. As you walk along more the trails, you might meet some resident animals passing through the forest.
Finally, your reward will be an exquisite traditional lunch.

Nosara has three beaches: Playa Guiones, Playa Nosara, and Playa Pelada. The sunsets here are truly breathtaking.

This morning you are free to enjoy the sea, sun, and beaches.
In the afternoon, you will go to Samara Beach (an hour from the hotel) to enjoy a boat tour with snorkelling near the island. During your cruise, keep your eyes open for the dolphins that occasionally delight passengers with their beauty. You may also encounter whales migrating down the coast to their breeding grounds, or sea turtles on their journey to shore to nest. As your cruise reaches its end, seeing the sunset from the water is a breathtaking experience.

Today you will have a free day to enjoy the hotel's facilities or take advantage of any of the area's activities.
You can explore the jungle of the Nosara River and the Montaña River while paddling in kayaks. For an adrenaline rush, you can go zip lining.

The city features popular tourist attractions, such as historical buildings, museums, theatres, artisan markets, beautiful parks, shopping centres, and a varied gastronomic scene. Tonight, you will enjoy a romantic farewell dinner at your hotel.
