I will be delighted to create amazing experiences for you in Costa Rica and show you what my beautiful country has to offer. Let’s design together the itinerary of your dreams, let’s make this trip the most memorable of your life.

Itinerary

On arrival in San José, Costa Rica, you will be welcomed at Juan Santamaría International Airport and transferred to your hotel in the city.

San José, the capital of Costa Rica is located in the middle of the central valley in the centre of the country and is considered one of the most cosmopolitan cities in Latin America. The city features popular tourist attractions, such as historical buildings, museums, theatres, artisan markets, beautiful parks, shopping centres, and a varied gastronomic scene. It became a strategic place from which you can make endless daily activities.

In the morning, you will be transferred to the Arenal Volcano in the Northern Plains region. Majestic in its grand stature, the volcano is one of the natural wonders of Costa Rica. While the volcano is quiet these days and there are no lava eruptions, you can still see clouds of smoke or ash emanating from the top of the cinder cone. Along your journey to the town of La Fortuna, at the base of the volcano, you will see agricultural plantations, large ornamental plant nurseries, and cattle farms.

Accommodation at the resort in La Fortuna, Arenal Volcano area.

The day will begin with a guided hike at the foot of the Arenal Volcano. While hiking the Lava Flow 2010 Trail, a two-kilometre journey at the foot of the volcano, you will see how the forest vegetation and terrain have been affected by volcanic activity. At the highest point of the trail (620 metres) you will see the lava flows from 1975 to 2010. The views from here are fantastic and include the majestic volcano and Lake Arenal at your feet.

Accommodation at the resort in La Fortuna, Arenal Volcano area.

On this day, you will be able to enjoy the spectacular view of the Arenal Volcano facing the resort’s suites. Located in La Fortuna, Montaña de Fuego is an impressive Eco Mountain Resort with amazing gardens that are a heaven for the beautiful butterflies and birds of the area. It’s an excellent choice for the travellers who want to connect with nature, recharge internal batteries and regain energy. Here you will have everything you need to relax and have fun. You can choose some of the onsite complementary activities such as: birdwatching walk, discovery of a fascinating Costa Rican indigenous culture in Villa Maleku village or natural spa experience (thermal springs and volcanic mud).

On this day, your Costa Rica Cloud Forest and Beach Vacation will continue to the next destination which is Monteverde, a small community located high in the Cordillera de Tilarán and an important ecotourism destination in the country, where the main attraction is the Monteverde Cloud Forest Biological Reserve. During the trip, you will observe really beautiful landscapes and you will cross some typical localities of the country.

Due to its high altitude (1,400 m above sea level), Monteverde has the privilege of receiving a constant supply of clouds and humidity. This humidity, often in the form of fog, traps the branches of the tallest trees and falls to the other organisms below. This helps to maintain a complex and powerful ecosystem, which is home to more than 100 species of mammals, 400 species of birds, tens of thousands of insect species and more than 2,500 varieties of plants, 420 of more which are orchids only.

You will have a free afternoon to enjoy the facilities of your hotel.

In the morning, you will discover the Hanging Bridges of Selvatura Park. There are many bridge systems in the world, but few of them are hanging bridges. The hanging bridges of Selvatura Park offer the best way to admire the canopy of the cloud forest.

The route of the hanging bridges consists of 3.06 kilometres of trails comprising eight bridges of different sizes, ranging between 57 and 170 metres in length. Each bridge has a width of 1.50 meters and a capacity of up to 80 people per bridge, which means that the hanging bridges of Selvatura Park are not only the largest, but also the strongest in the suspension bridge system of Costa Rica. In addition to this, the suspension bridges of Selvatura Park are certified by the Federated College of Engineers and Architects of Costa Rica, which guarantees that they have been built following the best construction standards and offer the best possible more quality.

You will admire these magnificent structures that were assembled in San José and then transported to Monteverde to be carried by the workers in the forest and in this way minimize the damage to nature. Walking on the bridges, you will be able to appreciate wide variety of flora and fauna and observe the endemic biodiversity of the cloud forest canopy, found nowhere else in the world.

On this day, your trip will continue to the Nicoya Peninsula in the province of Puntarenas on the north Pacific Coast. Here you will find some of the country’s most secluded and beautiful beaches, ideal for those looking to have some fun in the sun. The gastronomic offer is wide and diverse, from Costa Rican to Italian and Asian cuisine.

Located about 41 km from Nicoya, Puerto Carrillo is a small fishing village with some nice hotels, restaurants and small food markets. Playa Carrillo (Carrillo Beach) is a beautiful white sand beach that has small waves most of the time and is a popular attraction among swimmers and families with children. It is rarely crowded and offers nice picnic areas right on the beach. Another beautiful beach located nearby is Playa Samara (4 km from Playa Carrillo), a much larger beach with waves, which is a popular place for beginning surfers.
