On arrival in San José, Costa Rica, you will be welcomed at Juan Santamaría International Airport and transferred to your hotel.

The rest of the day is free. San José, the capital of Costa Rica is located in the middle of the central valley and the centre of the country and is considered one of the most cosmopolitan cities in Latin America. The city features popular tourist attractions, such as historical buildings, museums, theatres, artisan markets, beautiful parks, shopping centres, and a varied gastronomic scene. It became a strategic place from which to make endless daily activities.

In the morning, you will be transferred to the Arenal Volcano (1,670 m) in the Northern Plains region. Majestic in its grand stature, the volcano is one of the country’s natural wonders and the most popular of Costa Rica’s volcanic giants. It towers over the surrounding fertile landscape with plantations producing the best coffee in the world. While the volcano is quiet nowadays and there are no lava eruptions, you can still see clouds of smoke or ash emanating from the top of the cinder cone. The symmetrical cone-shaped Arenal Volcano erupted in the past an average of 41 times a day and while it currently slumbers, Arenal and the surrounding area are a great base for touring. You can also enjoy the plentiful hot springs in the area. The day will begin with a hike in Arenal Volcano National Park. You will see how the forest vegetation and terrain have been affected by volcanic activity, including old lava flows. There is a possibility to see diverse wildlife in the park including deer, tapir, howler monkeys, white-faced monkeys, and birds like parrots, orioles and brown magpies, along with a great variety of vegetation including various species of palms and bromeliads, guayabo de monte, ceiba, bait, cirri, laurel, fungi, higuerones, orchids, and ferns. You will notice how the forest vegetation and terrain have been affected by volcanic activity, including old lava flows. The Arenal Volcano National Park covers an area of 12,016 ha and is situated within the larger 204,000-ha Arenal Conservation Area protecting 16 reserves between the Tilarán and Guanacaste mountain ranges.

In the afternoon, you will enjoy the natural hot more springs pools surrounded by lush gardens at your hotel and complemented by the spectacular views of the Arenal Volcano. The temperatures in the thermal pools range from 28° C (83° F) to 40° C (104° F), and will allow you to fully relax and enjoy the views with beautiful waterfalls.

This morning, you will descend from the mountains to the warm coast of the Central Pacific reaching Manuel Antonio, one of the most popular tourist destinations in Costa Rica due to its beautiful beaches and rich wildlife. Manuel Antonio is one of the smallest and at the same time, the most visited Costa Rica’s national parks due to its beautiful beaches between coastal foothills, lush forest, and abundant wildlife. It is considered one of the most beautiful parks in Costa Rica. There are several trails for walking with many viewpoints, and there is a high probability of seeing animals such as monkeys, iguanas, birds, raccoons and possibly even the three-toed sloth in their natural habitat. At various points, the trails branch off and lead to four separate beaches: Espadilla Sur, Manuel Antonio, Escondida, and Playita, where you can swim in the crystal clear and warm water. The beaches of Manuel more Antonio are highly coveted as some of the best Costa Rica has to offer. Many popular activities such as world-class surfing and snorkelling are available.

In the morning, your 10-day Costa Rica Itinerary will continue towards the Sierpe River. Your adventure begins at the La Hacienda dock, in the quiet village of Sierpe, where you will be transferred by boat for 90 minutes. The trip will take you through the most extensive mangrove wetland system on the Central America’s Pacific Coast. You will have an excellent chance to see monkeys, crocodiles, and many birds. After you pass through the river’s mouth into the ocean, you will follow the coast south. Depending on weather conditions, you can have the chance to see dolphins and even whales. In the afternoon, you will enjoy a tasty lunch.

In the evening, you will have dinner at the lodge.

Accommodation at Casa Corcovado Jungle Lodge (A category / Luxury - 4*) in Corcovado.

This day you will enjoy hiking in Corcovado National Park. Corcovado is the last sustainably sized Pacific lowland rainforest in Central America, and it has been called “the most biologically intense place on Earth”. The morning hours offer the best opportunity to observe the wildlife and the incredible variety of birds that abound in the park. A river with a stunning waterfall is one of your destinations, where you can cool off in one of the pools. You will have a picnic lunch during the tour.

In the evening, you will have dinner at the lodge.

Today’s adventure is a boat tour to the spectacular Caño Island Biological Reserve, which was once an important ceremonial site and cemetery for pre-Columbian indigenous people. The island has one of the most extensive coral formations and the best snorkelling conditions on Costa Rica’s Pacific Coast. The place where you will snorkel offers the chance to see a variety of fish and marine mammals. After your return, you will enjoy a picnic lunch at the lodge’s beach rancho.
In the evening, you will enjoy your dinner at the lodge.

Accommodation at Casa Corcovado Jungle Lodge (A category / Luxury - 4*) in Corcovado.

This morning you will return by boat to the La Hacienda dock in the town of Sierpe. Then you will be transferred to the Palmar Sur / Drake Bay airstrip for your domestic flight to San José. From the domestic terminal at the San José airport, you will be transferred to your hotel.
